The most beautiful operatic arias and duets, along with hits from American musicals – the Beethoven Academy Orchestra invites you for the first time to a New Year’s Eve concert at the ICE KRAKÓW Congress Center, opening the venue’s annual New Year’s Eve Gala series.
This will be an extraordinary New Year’s Eve. The ICE KRAKÓW Congress Center will feature distinguished soloists from the Vienna Opera House, the Glyndebourne Festival, the Baden-Baden Festspiele, and opera houses in Poland: soprano Magdalena Molendowska and baritone Ben Connor. They will perform famous arias and duets from the repertoires of Viennese, Italian, and German opera masters, as well as hits from American Broadway, including immortal songs from musicals by Leonard Bernstein and Frederick Loewe. There will also be masterful orchestral works by Ravel, Marquez, and Weinberg.
German conductor Christian Schumann, a favorite of Krakow audiences and remembered for his outstanding performances at the recent Film Music Festival, will also lead the Beethoven Academy Orchestra in spectacular concert overtures. The evening’s narrator will be Leszek Mikos, an expert and enthusiast of opera and operetta, and winner of the “Master of Polish Speech 2014” award, who will guide the audience through the mysteries of vocal art history.
