Krzysztof Penderecki’s monumental Credo—for five solo voices (soprano, mezzo-soprano, alto, tenor, bass), children’s choir, mixed choir, and orchestra—will be performed under the composer’s direction on October 4th at 6:00 PM in the Church of St. Maksymilian Kolbe in Aleksandrowice. The work was initially intended as a mass, commissioned by the Oregon Bach Festival and the Internationale Bachakademie in Stuttgart. The composer sketched all five permanent movements of the mass, but the Credo so captivated him that it became a stand-alone work. The final concert of the FKP Credo will feature the Beethoven Academy Orchestra, Krakow Philharmonic Choir, Pueri Cantores Sancti Nicolai – Boys’ Choir from Bochnia, and soloists Iwona Hossa – 1st soprano, Ewa Vesin – 2nd soprano, Marcjanna Myrlak – alto, Adam Zdunikowski – tenor, and Piotr Nowacki – bass. The artists will be conducted by Krzysztof Penderecki himself. The choirs will be prepared by Teresa Majka-Pacanek and Father Stanisław Adamczyk, and the concert will be prepared by Maciej Tworek.
