The 19th New Year’s Pharmacists’ Concert, organized by the District Pharmaceutical Chamber in Warsaw, is not only a unique musical celebration but also an opportunity for pharmaceutical industry professionals, their families, friends, and all lovers of good music to gather in a warm and exceptional atmosphere. Refreshments will be served during the intermission. Following the example of previous years, the most interesting and well-known film music compositions will be presented in the main concert hall of the Warsaw Philharmonic.
The concert program is divided into two parts. The first, titled “Fantastic, Romantic,” will feature a collection of compositions from major movie hits telling stories of fantastic worlds, improbable tales (though some based on true events), and extraordinary characters. We will hear the Oscar-winning suite from “The Piano,” the peerless cosmic worlds “painted” by Michael Giacchino in the modern “Star Trek,” James Horner’s music for the groundbreaking “Avatar,” and Hans Zimmer’s suite for “Man of Steel.” More intimate compositions by Ennio Morricone, Ludovico Einaudi, Alan Silvestri, and John Barry will also be presented.
The second part of the concert (“Tales for Children and Adults”) will abound with hits from animations, fairy tales, and comic book adaptations. In the “dragon set,” we will hear the theme from the cult series “Game of Thrones,” complemented by a suite from “How to Train Your Dragon” and the theme from “Jurassic Park.” A major highlight will certainly be the songs (“Let It Go” from “Frozen,” “Colors of the Wind” from “Pocahontas,” and “Journey to the Past” from “Anastasia”), which became global hits hummed all over the world. This concert block could not be complete without stories of superheroes; we will present the independent “Ant-Man” as well as the entire superhero team, “The Avengers.”
An undeniable highlight of this year’s concert is the participation of the eminent vocalist Edyta Krzemień – known for her triumphs in the musicals “Piloci” and “The Phantom of the Opera,” and for her collaboration with Zbigniew Preisner. Conducted by maestro Maciej Sztor, the pieces will be performed by the Beethoven Academy Orchestra, a leading Polish symphonic ensemble of the young generation.
