On 10 June 2026, the Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic Hall in Kraków will host the Yale Alumni Chorus – one of the most active American ambassadorial choral ensembles, conducted by Jeffrey Douma. Renowned for international tours across Europe, Asia, and South America, the ensemble arrives in Poland as part of its European concert tour, continuing its mission of “harmony through music.”
In Kraków, the chorus will be joined by the Orkiestra Akademii Beethovenowskiej, the Dominanta Choir of the Cracow University of Economics, and the Psalmodia Choir of the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Kraków. The programme spans a wide repertoire: from Mikołaj of Kraków’s 16th–century Date sinceram merentibus, through Mendelssohn’s Psalm 42 and Dvořák’s Serenade for Strings, to 20th and 21st-century works by Schnittke, Twardowski, Nowowiejski, Rahman, and contemporary composers.
A defining feature of the event is the encounter of distinct performance traditions within a single sonic narrative: the refined American choral precision of Yale – shaped by Jeffrey Douma and pianist Noah Horn – meets the European symphonic tradition and the Polish choral identity rooted in liturgical heritage.
The concert also features Canadian–Czech soprano Elizabeth Legierski, an internationally acclaimed artist active on leading opera stages across Europe and Asia.
This project represents a rare European-scale convergence of American academic choral artistry with the layered musical culture of Central Europe – within a space where music becomes a genuine language of cultural dialogue, particularly resonant in today’s dynamic times.
The project is presented within the “Musical Bridges” partnership initiative.
